Research interests

Infectious Disease Epidemiology.

To understand the dynamics of disease transmission in population, using conventional epidemiologic methods and mathematical models. Examples include HIV, influenza and schistosomiasis.

Sanitation, personal hygiene and health.

To understand the impact of sanitation and personal hygiene intervention upon health outcomes, esp. transmission of infectious diseases.

Epidemiologic literature in non-English languages.

To facilitate the use of epidemiological data published in non-English epidemiologic literature and to promote the development of epidemiologic publications in non-English speaking countries, by raising the awareness among epidemiologists of the existence of non-English epidemiologic literature and databases.

Professional activities

I was an editor of the online Open Access journal Emerging Themes in Epidemiology: Editorial board - 2005 - 2008; Managing Editor - 2006- 2008.
